ELDERLY DRIVERS SHOULD BE TESTED REGULARLY

Dear Editor,

Re your story 'Three injured by out of control car' (IBN, 13/8/07), what the heck are 80+ year olds doing still driving unless they have been tested for reaction times and driving skills? Most don't realise how slow their reflexes and motor skills are. That makes them a danger to the rest of us.

I know of one millionaire whose company employs a panel beater whose main role is to repair his high powered but often damaged car. I've almost been killed at least twice by 80+ drivers and think anyone over 60 should redo their driving test ever 5 years minimum.

The idea that their regular GP is going to declare them unfit to drive is often flawed - you don't bite the hand that feeds you.

WEST SHOULD JUST "GET ON WITH LIFE"

Dear Editor,

When is everyone going to get sick of that serial whinger Wayne West? He has already been broadcasting to anyone who will listen how he has been so badly done by everyone for over four years.  If he had spent the few hundred dollars extra on insurance that he should have, he would have already rebuilt and got on with his life, just like everyone else that was affected by the 2003 fires.

We do not all continue to whinge and complain because volunteer fire-fighters did not go on a suicide mission to protect his property, in the middle of dense bushland, a few hundred meteres from a national park, on a day that the full force of nature was released!

KANGAROO OPPONENTS MUST BE HOPPING MAD

Dear Editor,

The idiots that don’t want the roos culled in Canberra are demented. What’s worse: a bullet in the head or starving to death slowly for weeks? Cull the roos and let’s all have a big BBQ! Tastier than beef they are!

Also, good on you for doing an online local news channel.
