A woman was allegedly raped on Hamilton Island by a man from New South Wales last week, Queensland Police said today.

The 19 year old woman was allegedly assaulted in her room early on the morning of March 29.

The 29 year old man has been charged with one count of rape, common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He will appear in the Proserpine Magistrates Court on April 28.
