A man will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court this morning charged with murder after the body of an elderly woman was discovered in a Gold Coast house yesterday morning.

The 76 year old was found dead shortly after 6am at a Nerang Street, Southport address, police said.

No further details were given about the discovery, only that police considered her death to be suspicious.

The 36 year old Southport man has been charged with one count of murder and one count of burglary, as well as committing an indictable offence, misconduct with a corpse and two counts of entering a dwelling with intent.
