A drug supply syndicate operating on the New South Wales central coast has been smashed after a series of raids by Asian Crime Squad officers today.
Six properties in Gosford, Terrigal, Wamberal, Avoca and Springfield were raided with the help of police from the Brisbane Water Local Area Command.
Detectives allegedly found 2350 MDMA tablets with an estimated potential street value of $70,000, as well as approximately $16,000 in cash and steroids. A quantity of cannabis and cocaine was also allegedly found.
In addition, two shotguns and an air rifle were found, the pump-action shotgun allegedly loaded with four live rounds.
Four men aged between 22 and 48, as well as a 23 year old woman, have been arrested in the raids and taken to City Central, Gosford and The Entrance Police Stations for questioning by Strike Force Leonello detectives.
The strike force was established in November last year to target the supply of ecstasy on the central coast and in Sydney.
They have already seized 3025 MDMA tablets, worth an estimated potential street value of $90,000, during the four-month covert investigation.
Asian Crime Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Deb Wallace has described the syndicate as highly-organised.
“We will allege this syndicate has been involved in the distribution of MDMA tablets both on the Central Coast, as well as in Sydney," she said.
“We anticipate today’s operation will have a significant impact on the availability of this illicit drug, particularly on the Central Coast."
“It is expected the five people arrested this afternoon will be charged with a range of offences, including the supply of commercial quantities of prohibited drugs.”
The strike force is continuing its inquiries.
