Workers who have found themselves out of a job with the closure of the Adelaide Mitsubishi plant should consider moving to Queensland, the sunshine state's premier Anna Bligh has said.
The Adelaide car factory will close its doors by the end of March, displacing 1000 workers.
But Ms Bligh said Queensland was an ideal place for those workers to start again.
“We’ve got Queensland employers screaming for workers - especially in our regions," the premier said.
“There are major projects happening in Central Queensland, Far North Queensland, Mackay as well the Surat Basin and Northern Economic Triangle. They are all looking for workers."
“Queensland has jobs. It is an ideal place to bring up a family and we have a cherished lifestyle,” she said.
Tourism and regional development minister Des Boyle has been ordered to spearhead a campaign to attract the Mitsubishi workers.
