A group of concerned citizens are meeting in Yass this weekend to discuss how to identify if their children are addicted to drugs.

The forum, organised by the Yass Community Drug Action group, will discuss how to identify drugs and the signs and symptoms that someone is using.

The gathering will also talk about what to do in the event of an overdose and where to get help for drug and alcohol addiction.

Yass police, ambulance staff, a drug and alcohol worker from the Greater Southern Area Health Service and a local liquor licensee are expected to attend the forum.

Organisers say it is being held at the same time as a Youth Week Disco - on Saturday night from 7pm - to allow parents to attend the forum while their children go dancing.

The forum comes amid reports drugs are rampant throughout southern NSW, especially in Goulburn.

An anonymous source has told IBN News ice is one of the most common drugs of choice amongst local users.
