A serving ACT police officer has been suspended from duty after child pornography images were allegedly found in his Canberra home last week.

The 38 year old constable was charged with using a carriage service to access child porn and possession of child pornography material after officers from the AFP's Professional Standards Unit executed a search warrant on his Belconnen house on March 21 following a tip-off from ACT Police.

They allegedly seized a computer containing the illegal images during that search.

The man is due to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.
