ACT Police are warning the public not to approach a man wanted for questioning over stolen property.

Daniel Noland (pictured), also known as Slobodan Novakovic, has been on the run since evading a police cordon in Symonston yesterday, and he is suspected of carrying a firearm.

He is described as Caucasian, 173cm tall, 80kgs, of medium build with brown eyes, olive complexion and dark, untidy hair.

Police say he is "potentially dangerous".

Noland managed to slip through the cordon that had been set up on Narrabundah Lane in Symonston to negotiate his surrender shortly before 8 o'clock last night.

He used a vehicle police believe is stolen - a purple Mazda2 small sedan with Queensland registration 711 ETS - to flee.

Officers pursued the man towards Wanniassa, but then lost sight of the 27 year old.

Anyone with information as to Noland's whereabouts or who has seen the purple Mazda2 sedan is asked to call police on 131-444.
